Ólafur Arnalds – Australian Tour 2018

Ólafur Arnalds – Australian Tour 2018

Award winning Icelandic musician, composer and producer Ólafur Arnalds today announces a run of Australian tour dates. With a live show set to break all the rules, Arnalds will play songs from his and his extensive back catalogue and upcoming ‘fourth official album’ RE:MEMBER, out worldwide on 24th August via Mercury KX.

Kicking off at Brisbane’s QPAC on 27th November, Arnalds will then play the iconic Sydney Opera House and Canberra Theatre, before travelling to Melbourne and Adelaide to play Melbourne Recital Centre and Adelaide Festival Centre.

Arnalds is renowned for his markedly unique sound which he produces by mixing strings and piano with loops and edgy beats and fusing electronica, ambient and pop. His highly anticipated record RE:MEMBER features his new ground-breaking software Stratus, which transforms the humble piano into a unique new instrument. The custom built software is born out of two years of work by the composer and audio developer Halldór Eldjârn, and are the centrepiece of Arnalds’ new works.

“The self-playing pianos are a jolt to the creative process that forces me to try new and often surprising things. In a live setting the pianos are an integral part of the performance due to their generative nature. Each time they are played is a little different, making every performance unique.”Olafur Arnalds

Fifteen years ago, when Ólafur Arnalds began making music, he was composing for imaginary films. Scoring the pictures in his mind, he never imagined anyone else would hear the music of those inner visions. Now, he’s one of the world’s most captivating composers.

Internationally celebrated for his haunting musical style, Arnalds combines elements of ambient, classical, electronic and even pop and rock. The upcoming release of his fourth ‘official’ album RE:MEMBER follows the success of his innovative musical project ISLAND SONGS (2016), two previous improvised projects FOUND SONGS (2009) and LIVING ROOM MUSIC (2011) and his extensive soundtrack work for ITV’s Broadchurch, for which he won a BAFTA for Best Original Music (2014).

Don’t miss your chance to see this incredible talent live!
