Olafur Arnalds
Internationally celebrated for his haunting musical style, Ólafur Arnalds combines elements of ambient, classical, electronic and even pop and rock. In the 17 years since he started writing music in his native Iceland, composing what he described as imaginary films saying “I was scoring the pictures in my head,”. He didn’t imagine anyone else would want to hear the music for those inner visions. Now he’s one of the world’s most popular composers, people very much do want to hear the music he hears to accompany his own mental movies. The release in November 2020 of his fifth ‘official’ album some kind of peace, follows the success of the ground breaking album re:member, his innovative musical project Island Songs (2016), two previous improvised projects Found Songs (2009) and Living Room Music (2011) and his extensive soundtrack work for ITV’s Broadchurch, for which he won a BAFTA for Best Original Music (2014).
